Funchal, Madeira.

Bustling with people on probably a typical Saturday, one can feel a bit stressed after a few quiet days on the Northern side of the island. But then you get caught by the atmosphere - at the latest when you pass this really awesome pink building.

North Coast, Madeira.

If you have something like a travel pattern, then this does certainly not fit in with mine. Nevertheless, Madeira is a wonderful place to be. One can read in quite many guides that some parts of the island remind of the Scottish Highlands. When visiting these parts it was like: “Well yeah, it looks exactly like Scotland. Just with different hills, different plants and different villages.”

Well, I’d say that Madeira looks like Madeira. And that is simply perfect.

The first time above 3000m above Sea level for more than a year, Saastal.

Loving mountains and ice, this place is just a perfect place to be. The fact that it is lying quite high and probably the breathtaking view made me sound like a very, very old lady up there. Or maybe it was just the lack of training. Either way, the beauty of nature is once more simply stunning. And even shows itself when photographed with a crappy cam.

Happy Easter!
Even tough the bunny doesn’t look that excited, I am quite sure it (he/she?) enjoys its job at the moment. Must be funny to hide eggs and chocolate in people’s gardens. Or maybe just dead boring.
Anyway, finding them is nice. Good luck with that, then!

Icehotel, Kiruna.

Where my beloved Torneträsk eventually becomes sweet dreams made of ice. Nice.

Lofoten, Norge.

The best thing with living at the end of the world is the fact that you are close to some places that are usually far away. Lofoten islands, for instance.

So, if you have time, grab your cam, good company and food and set out to experience what I personally think life is all about: Enjoying being on this beautiful world!

Flakstad, Lofoten.

The world simply is a beautiful place. And I cannot help but falling in love with it  over and over again!

Aurora, Sweden.

After a few days of absence, Aurora is back in Abisko again. And with an intensity that even astonishes the most hardcore Northern lights hunters. Not hunting “her”, I was still glad to see Aurora again the last few nights :)

Rallarkyrkogården, Tornehamn.

If you want to get to get in touch with the soul of Northern Sweden’s railway, take yourself to the graveyard in Tornehamn. Situated on a hill besides the wonderful Torneträsk, the place just oozes of melancholy and a strange calm. You really sense that here lies a lot of love, sweat, tears and even more pain and lost dreams.

And suddenly all the ghost stories that are told in Abisko seem to be very, very real.

On the way back to Abisko, Sweden.

After a short trip back home, Sweden welcomed me with a huge Northern light. It seemed as if Lapland felt that my heart was longing to another place and was trying to get it back up here. Quite convincing, ey?
